When Interns Rate Companies started by Daehee Park
At job fairs around the country, recruiters promise a summer internship program promising bountiful opportunities and plenty of hands on experience. As some of us know, those promises can sometimes be shattered by menial “intern” work and little opportunity to explore. Ever want to cut through recruiter’s tactful spiel and find out first hand what [...]

David Adewumi featured in Washington Post started by Daehee Park
David Adewumi is making big headlines with his startup Heekya. David is featured in the Washington Post today in an article about the startup incubator called Launchbox. I’m sure this mainstream article about Heekya is just one of many to come in the near future.
David is currently in San Francisco for meetings with investors. Let’s [...]

Are you interested in international opportunities? started by Daehee Park
There’s a new Facebook group called Go Global in IST that’s been gaining traction in the community. Created by Matt Prindible (President, IST Student Government), the group has started an initiative to globalize the scope of the IST curriculum. If you haven’t already, check it out and post to the wall.

Security in Beijing started by Daehee Park
From the New York Times: China Orders Highest Alert Level.
Chinese officials have thrown an almost smothering blanket of security across this capital of 17 million in preparation for the start of the Olympic Games on Friday. Above all else, Chinese leaders say, these Olympics will be “safe.”

A Call For Educational Transparency started by Daehee Park
IST students were sent an email recently announcing a new job posting system and the dismantling of ISTechTRAK. Despite the awkward name, ISTechTRAK worked fairly well and played an indirect role in landing each of my internships. It also had room for improvement, which I won’t address here nor speculation on its replacement. My interest was piqued by the opaqueness of the message.

Vote for David Adewumi’s startup idea on ideablob started by Daehee Park
Another Penn State entrepreneur is gunning for the $10k prize on ideablob. David Adewumi’s startup called Heekya aims to create a revolutionary new platform for sharing content on the web.
David calls it a “Wikipedia for Stories” on his ideablob entry, but it’s much more than that.
Think of it as a way to aggregate people’s life [...]

Ted Leonsis: Successful Entrepreneurs and the Pursuit of Happiness started by Daehee Park
Ted Leonsis came to speak to a group of us in Washington, DC. He is an amazing storyteller, and has been successful from an early age, selling his company for a multi-million dollar deal at the age of 23, although he was raised in near-abject poverty.
Ted is now the majority owner of the Washington Wizards, [...]

The Lucky 13 Steps to Starting a Company From New Media Pioneer Haroon Mokhtarzada started by Daehee Park
While working full time at Harvard, Haroon and his brother were bootstrapping, and the hardest part was getting users. One of their applications on SGN now gets 500 million page views/month, within a year of launching, which is more than the entire freewebs.com span of properties.

Widespread Vandalism and Neglect in IST Classrooms started by Daehee Park
It’s a difficult challenge to find a computer in “okay” condition in any of the IST classrooms. I am not necessarily suggesting a fleet upgrade — although it does seem necessary over this summer — but rather some better policies on protecti
It has a name … Heekya started by Daehee Park

And while unfortunately, I’m not ready to launch anything publicly, I wanted to share a bit about the project. We call it, Heekya.

Chicken or the Egg? started by Daehee Park
A few days ago, I wrote a post that generated a bit of very insightful, relevant discussion to this ongoing push towards innovation, community, and entrpreneurship within IST and the greater Penn State area.
I’d like to talk about what has been accomplished.
